The “healthy village” of Dorfgastein – a veritable paradise for mountain and sport fans

If you are arriving from the north you reach Dorfgastein after travelling through the Klammstein Tunnel. Your first glance at the location will tell you that customs and tradition still play an important part in everyday life. Schneesportschule Gastein or the Schischule Angerer will show you how it’s done. More advanced and expert winter sports kids can enjoy carving and snowboarding, with guaranteed snow on the slopes. At midday your loved ones can warm up in the rustic ski chalets and enjoy a hearty meal.

A winter holiday in Dorfgastein, Salzburg state, can offer much more than downhill skiing though. An extensive network of trails are the perfect place to go cross-country skiing in Gasteinertal. If you would like to experience the fairy tale winter landscape without skis, then you should try a winter walking tour. With  snow shoes it’s also relatively easy to walk through the snow, in the style of American natives.
